Obituary of Virgie Louise Alosi

Virgie Alosi was born on November 19, 1937 in Gilroy, California. She passed away on August 16, 2019 at the age of 81, in Hollister, California after her third bout with cancer while surrounded by her family.

Virgie attended schools in Gilroy, at New Idria Mines, Los Angeles, and Morgan Hill where she graduated from Live Oak High School.

Virgie married her high school sweetheart, Peter Alosi, in 1957. They were married for fifty-two years before Peter's death in 2010. They lived in Morgan Hill and Prunedale before settling in Hollister in 1967 with their three small children.

Virgie was employed by Wells Fargo Bank as a teller, and San Benito High School. She was an instructional aide first in the Home Economics Department then moved to the English Department. Virgie also was an aide in other subjects including, History, Drivers Education, and Special Education. Virgie worked at the school for twenty-eight years.

Virgie was a current member of Hollister Elks and the Native Daughters of the Golden West San Juan Bautista Parlor No. 179 where she was an officer and was member of several committees.

Virgie was a past member of a 4-H Club in Gilroy, Salinas Valley Antique Automobile Club, a Bunco Club in Hollister, SBHS Baler Band Boosters, and Hollister Dance Club.

While Virgie's children were in high school, Peter and her were very active in the band program by participating as president, board members and traveling as chaperones on trips throughout California.

Virgie enjoyed dancing with Peter to the Big Band sounds whenever they had the chance. Virgie loved to travel with her husband and family. Their travels included fishing, camping, sight-seeing, and visiting family and friends. Virgie and Peter with their children traveled with the antique car club through California and Nevada.

Virgie loved to read, do crossword puzzles, play card games, board games, sewing and camping with family and friends. She enjoyed hosting holiday dinners and family gatherings with all her family in attendance.

Family and friends were very important to Virgie. She always wanted to help everyone in any way she could.

One of Virgie's favorite past times was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.

Virgie is survived by her children Janice Alosi (Gregg Bonturi), Gerald Alosi (Laurie) of Hollister, and Susan Calleri (Robert) of Tres Pinos.

Grandchildren Kenneth Calleri (Katherine) of Hollister, Daniel Calleri of Tres Pinos, Katherine Alosi (Fiance Fernando Martinez), of Hollister, and Breanna Alosi of Hollister.

Her great-grandchildren Emily, Madison, and "Baby" Calleri of Hollister.

Predeceased by her husband Peter Alosi, parents Everett and Myrtle Dillon.
