Obituary of Barbara R. Galli

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Barbara Rose Felice McCardle Galli was born on March 29th, 1928, in Hollister, California.  A lifelong resident of Hollister, Barbara attended Sacred Heart School and San Benito High School.  Barbara passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 25th, 2018.

Barbara was truly a matriarch, known to family and friends as “Granny”.  She was known for her support of Sacred Heart School and Parish in a variety of ways: a member of Sacred Heart/St. Benedict’s Churches, Sacred Heart School Mothers’ Club, Sacred Heart Altar Society, and she was a dedicated Eucharistic Minister. Generations of Sacred Heart students knew of her as the “Ice Cream Lady”!  Her support continued through Palma Parents’ Club and Notre Dame Parents’ Club. Barbara was well known from Hollister Canning Company and the Villa Pace Restaurant.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Bill McCardle and Guido Galli (Teresa) and her daughters, Jacklyn Thomas (Alan) and Felicia Andrade (Adrian).  Her grandchildren are Blaine Thomas (Shelia), Melanie Saweliew, Alicyn Cawley (Max), Jade Jacobo (Danny), Kyle Thomas, Travis Galli, and Grant Galli.  Her great-grandchildren are Taylor Krais (Bailey), Beau Krais (Noelle), Isabella, Macy, Oliver, and Quinn Cawley, Daniel, Lucca, and Drew Jacobo; great-great grandchildren Emma and Beau Krais, and Riley Krais. She is survived by many nieces and nephews also.  She was preceeded in death by her first husband Larry McCardle, her second husband of many years Jack Galli, her brother Joseph Felice, her infant brother Frank, her sisters Raphaela Carbone, Angie Matthews, Theresa Del Carlo, Mary Avalli, and Francis Jones, and daughter in law Donna McCardle.

The family would like to acknowledge the care, comfort, compassion and kindness provided by the staff of Mabie Northside.

The rosary will be held at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Sunday, December 2nd, at 7 pm.  The funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 680 College Street, Hollister at 11:30am on Monday, December 3rd.  Interment will follow immediately at Calvary Cemetery, 1100 Hillcrest Rd, Hollister.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Community Foundation of San Benito County for the Frank and Agata Felice Family Scholarship in Barbara Galli’s name (givesanbenito.org).
