Robert was a hell of a natural athlete, although a bit wild & undisciplined. Possibly tough to coach, because he didn't want to hear it, lol. Hard-headed. But always ready to have a good time & laugh. We played football, basketball & baseball together, baseball being his best sport. He threw 3/4 arm heat with movement when he pitched, and hit the ball hard. Real hard. Playing on 13 yr old Babe Ruth All Stars we were in a tight game with Monterey Penninsula All Stars for the district championship at their home field. Their team had 2 future major Leaguers. Last inning Robert hit an opposite field home run to win the game & we all ran out of the dugout & mobbed him @ home plate...

A fellow San Juan Padre class of 1976. We spent alot of time together in classes and on the playing field through our time at SJB, Hollister High, Babe Ruth Baseball Allstars and SJB Men's Fastpitch softball. You had a rocket of an arm. I remember us winning the Babe Ruth Baseball Allstars district tournament over the favorite Monterey Allstars because you hit the game winning 3-run homerun. Though later life split us apart, we always remained like brothers those few times we saw each other. We will always remain Padres. You leave a great legacy through your beautiful family. Love and miss you, Robert.

Robert was one of my dearest friends and he was my neighbor until I left the ranch 6 months ago to return to Oregon. Robert & I were so sad because we weren’t going to be able to have our dinners together anymore. I missed him so much and my heart is broken not only for myself but for his kids and grandkids who we talked about all the time. He loved you all more than anything in the world. Never doubt that.
