Joseph Scoppettone

Obituary of Joseph Thomas Scoppettone

After living a very full life filled with family and friends, Joseph Thomas Scoppettone passed away peacefully at home with his devoted wife Sharyn, daughter Gina and Granddaughter Alli by his side at the age of 81 on November 1, 2024. Joe was born on April 30, 1943, in San Jose, CA to John and Frances Scoppettone. He was married to his wife Sharyn for 61 years. They had two children, Gina Marie and Joseph Matthew. After graduating from St Francis High School, Joe began his career in the Lathing industry where he worked for 30+ years. During that time, he also worked for the San Jose Earthquakes as Field Manager and at the Shark’s arena as Head of Security during games and concerts. After retirement, Joe enjoyed hiking, camping, golfing and volunteering at church. He loved cooking Italian sausage and ravs for the annual Italian Festival. He will forever be remembered by his incredible devotion to his family and friends. The nicknames he gave everyone will live on forever. Being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was his greatest joy. Joe’s eyes lit up every time his great-grandchildren Carter (C-Boy) and Aubrie (Abba Dabba Doo) walked through the door. We know that his first-born grandchild, Chelsea Codiga who he lovingly called Cha-Chi, was waiting to welcome him into Heaven with a big hug and her beautiful ever-present smile. Joe is preceded in death by his granddaughter Chelsea Codiga, his parents John and Frances Scoppettone and in-laws Richard and Prudence Molly Smith. Joe leaves behind the love of his life Sharyn Anne Scoppettone, daughter Gina Thomas (Glenn), son Joseph Matthew Scoppettone (Kaling), sister Judy Sandoval, sister-in-law Sandy Madden (Brian), sister-in-law Julie Thompson, granddaughter Alli Maisonneuve (Mike), grandson-in-law Anthony Codiga, granddaughter Samantha Scoppettone, great-grandson Carter Maisonneuve, great-granddaughter Aubrie Codiga and many dear friends and cousins. Thank you to daughter Gina, son-in-law Glenn and granddaughter Alli for their unwavering support and care. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Joe’s incredible hospice care team: Tim, Sevi, Le, Rachel, Cindy and Yancy.
