Gloria Popowski passed away on August 1, 2022 with peace. Gloria was born in Santa Fe, NM, on March 23, 1940, to Ernest and Lily Casados. She was preceded by her beloved husband Bob Popowski and her son-in-law, Leo Kahn as well as her parents, Ernest and Lily. She is survived by her children, Maria Carr, Robert Popowski and Anne Kahn, Maria’s husband Kevin, Robert’s wife Diana and her grandchildren, Corey and Amanda Carr, Lily, Autumn and Eva Kahn, Carly and Natalie Popowski, her brother Don Casados and his wife Kathy. She was a schoolteacher who taught at Sacred Heart School. She also loved teaching English as a Second Language to adults and had many long-time students who she called friends. She touched the lives of many of her students who will remember her. She was a devout Catholic and was active in The Sacred Heart/Saint Benedict parish in Hollister, CA. Gloria was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a gracious hostess. She loved to travel locally and around the world with Spain and Poland being two of her favorites. She was privileged to witness the wedding of her exchange student, Maria, in Spain and to be able to teach English to young students in Poland. She adored anything sweet, but mostly chocolate. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She cherished her “church family”. Gloria was the rock that the family was built on. She was unwavering in her faith and her ideals. Gloria will be missed by all whose lives she has touched so deeply. The Rosary will be on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. The Mass will be on August 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Memorial offerings may be made to Sacred Heart School, if desired.
