Obituary of Louis C. Hurtado

Louis Christopher Hurtado, born March 23, 1944, in San Juan Bautista, passed away on August 19, 2021. He lived most of his life in San Juan Bautista and Hollister and attended schools in both cities. Louis served in the U.S. Army from March 8, 1968 to April 8, 1970. During that time, he made the rank of Sp5 and was awarded the Bronze Star during his time in Viet Nam. Louie enjoyed cooking and did so in several local restaurant as well as cooking barbeque at the San Juan Rodeo for many years. He also worked at Whiskey Creek in Hollister with friends Dave and Carol Rivers. Louis is survived by sisters: Mary (Richard) Bravo, Elena (Bill) Bartholic and Rose Marie (Herold) Manning; brothers: Alfred (Irene) Hurtado, Richard (Trish) Hurtado and David Hurtado; as well as many nieces and nephews. “We will miss you Louie – Rest in Peace” Per his wishes, private cremation will be followed by interment at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Oregon.
