Peggy Jo Hodges (Brown), 81, of Hollister, California passed away on the afternoon of August 14, 2021 at her Hidden Valley home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Peggy was born in Kansas City, Kansas on March 22, 1940 to Mary Ellen Brown (Haggard) and Carroll Franklin Brown. Peggy spent her early childhood in Kansas City before moving to California in elementary school. While attending San Benito High School, she met her soulmate, John Russell Hodges. They would marry on January 4, 1960. Peggy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, lived a full and rewarding life. She was a woman of faith who welcomed everyone into her family. She enjoyed all that life would bring including supporting youth bands, mentoring in life lessons, hosting the most memorable holiday family gatherings, and helping with the raising of her grandchildren. Peggy put her heart and soul into all things she did, whether it was caring for her roses and dahlias, raising her poultry show birds, or taking her grandchildren to Disneyland. Peggy is a light that will continue to shine in all the lives she touched. Peggy was a beloved wife, she is survived by her husband John Russell Hodges for 61 years; Devoted mother of Michael (Lynne) Hodges; David (Rebecca) Hodges; Joyce (Luciano) Medeiros; Jeffrey (Ton-ie’ Pauly) Hodges; and Donna (Mike Beatty) Hodges; Sister to Carrie (Lynn) Sampson; and Gary Brown; Peggy is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 expected great-grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews. She is Preceded in death by her father Carroll Franklin Brown; mother Mary Ellen Brown (Haggard); and sister Judy Root. We give special heartfelt praise to Peggy’s special support “angels” that brought smiles to her face for several years. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Suzy, Lupe, Hara, and Orfi. Memorial service will be held on August 27, 2021 at Saint Benedict’s Church 1200 Fairview Rd, Hollister, CA 95023 at 11 a.m. A reception immediately following will be held at Paine’s Restaurant 421 East St., Hollister, CA 95023. Donations may be sent in Peggy’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
